There is a recall on the shifters because Chrysler chose to use hot pink plastic CHEAP parts on cars. There's a recall and "some"cars are covered including your year and model. However, Chrysler is slinking out of repairing cars because they say your VIN isn't covered. You've purchased a product and it works great until their CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP part breaks. They won't cover the cost. Oh no, they want $310 for a new shifter system because they "say" they redesigned the system. Do NOT purchase Chrysler or Dodge products! They do NOT stand behind them!

Your problem is the very reason I've never purchased a Chrysler product...and never will! I worked at a service station "back in the day", and Chrysler, Plymouth and Dodge vehicles were the "bread and butter" of mechanics all over town because they were continually needing repairs! I walked by a Chrysler dealer sales lot a couple of years ago, and the clear coat paint protection was actually peeling off of a couple of the new vehicles! What junk! In retrospect, I really can't blame the dealers for not standing behind their products...they'd probably get RUN OVER!!!
