With the Crown Vic discontinued I have seen a lot of Police going with the Dodge Charger. Has Ford lost it's grip of supplying police cars to Police Departments by discontinuing the Crown Vic? There are some other cars out there for the Police the Ford Taurus, Chevrolet Caprice, the Holden Badged G-8 which might be used by LAPD, and a little know company called Carbon. Which of these would you prefer? And why not Foreign cars like BMW, Audi, Honda, Nissan to name a few? Just wondering? Here is a link to the different proposals of Police cars available.

This is because this vehicle meet the standard of road performance and handling well under high speed the traction is great less skid better grip to the road because of its weight and computerized suspension makes the charger best pick for chasing bad guys and vehicle safety better than the crown Victoria second best I'm sure the crown Vic will be back soon because they did not pick it for 2011 don't mean its off the list

ford quit making the crown vic last week. the crown vic was the most popular model for the police for years. police depts knew of this several years ago and began switching to the charger. both the crown vic and the charger are rear wheel drive vehicles and that is preferred.

The Charger is a turd. Most agencies who got 'em are dumping 'em pretty quickly.

The new Taurus will work fine, not so much with the Caprice. The Tahoe and the Expedition or Explorers work fine.

The Holden and the Carbon are still in prototype and are not financially affordable.

The safety records of most 'foreign' cars will not work as police cars, BMW's are too expensive to maintain, Audi's are too expensive, Honda and Nissan don't make anything that would even be close.
