I think it depends on how you view "Cheap". A good example fully sorted with good paint and interior is going to cost more on the resale market than a car of the similar vintage from the domestic market. If the car you are looking at is "cheap" it sends up red flags for me. something is making the price lower and if it isn't an obvious one you have to do your research and find out why.
Parts are available online at several different sources and in the UK at many brick and mortar locations. The price of significant parts is higher than the ordinary car and that is something to consider when making you purchasing decision. The national alfa romeo owners groups are also a great source of information and help.
