Major rust problems, poor build quality and no parts to be had.

I'd give the first guy a thumbs up for mentioning parts, if I could.

I think it depends on how you view "Cheap". A good example fully sorted with good paint and interior is going to cost more on the resale market than a car of the similar vintage from the domestic market. If the car you are looking at is "cheap" it sends up red flags for me. something is making the price lower and if it isn't an obvious one you have to do your research and find out why.
Parts are available online at several different sources and in the UK at many brick and mortar locations. The price of significant parts is higher than the ordinary car and that is something to consider when making you purchasing decision. The national alfa romeo owners groups are also a great source of information and help.

This car may be cheap to buy but very expensive to maintain.
Alfa Romeo's are known to have very poor reliability.

because when the repair bills start coming in the affair soon cools but hey what can be better than an Italian convertable, even if it's only for awhile, truly a 5000 dollar bottle of wine is worthless if it is never to be opened.
