What is the BHP of a Bugatti Veyron?

Some things tell me it is 1001, some tell me it is 987, i don't know, does anybody know for sure?

1001 DIN BHP (metric, Pferdestärke or PS in German, Deutsches Institut für Normung). 987 US BHP.

It's 1001PS which works out to be 987BHP.
