I'm only 21 years old from New York. Was born and raised in a low income neighborhood by parents who immigrated from West Africa in search of a better life.I was fortunate enough to be able to go away to private school on a full academic scholarship to become an Air Traffic Controller. My parents always instilled a hard working attitude in me ever since i was young. As soon as i turned 16 i got a job saved all my money and vowed to build my own small empire. I graduate spring of next year and have already started a fairly successful small business and own 8 rental properties in the FL area, and i did this all on my own. The thing is, everyone i have known from high school or anywhere else for that matter has gravitated away. People treat me like a "regular guy" up until someone spills the beans or they see the kind of car i drive (BMW 5 series... bought with my own money) and start asking questions. Its almost as though they are intimidated or feel inferior around me. I guess you can say they aren't really my friends but what I'm really trying to say is the top is very lonely. Ive asked myself if success is really worth it many times because i have no intention of slowing down or stopping now... i don't know... whats your take?

Congrats to all you have accomplished! Well they are probably intimidated because they aren't as successful as you. My principal always said its lonely at the top until you find someone that isn't intimidated by you or accepts and appreciates what you do. I personally don't see why people have to be that way but its just human nature.

Yes!! They are very much intimidated by your success, you are amazing!!! Do you realize your life is much better than people your age and those who are 2 or 3 times your age??? You bring the failures and inadequacies of others to light without even trying, that can be crushing mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for some, so that's why people around you are acting funny. Are you a man?? Are you looking for a wife?? I want to marry you!!! LOL j/k

Its called envy. not all of us get scholarships so that we can use our brains. not all of us have brains to use.
for whatever reason, not everyone is able to or qualified to 'succeed'.it is the difference between the haves..and the have nots.

Usually, when someone as young as you drives a BMW, it's because he's a drug dealer or worse, so they back off not knowing whether you are telling the truth or what.

Sure, success is worth it! Don't rate your life on what some former friends thought. God has a good plan for each of us. Trust in the Lord to show you what to do next. We all know money isn't everything, but this is good you were able to do so much so soon!!! Now, it's time to surrender your life to Jesus Christ and he'll show you something even better.
