The name Bentley...help!?

Postby arlene » Mon Jan 16, 2012 11:12 am

I love the name Bentley, not because im a "Chav" or a teen mom but because I think Bentley James is a lovely traditional English name but no one sees past the whole Maci/Bentley thing.
If your gonna give the name hate, and be immature, I'll take no notice so mature answers please but what do you think of the name? Specifically Bentley James.
Thanks x
Sorry I didn't mean going to give the name hate as in "ignore you if you don't like it" I meant if your gonna say I'm "copying" maci and be immature, I totally respect all your opinions (: x

I really don't like Bentley. You can't force others to see what you do. What about James Bentley?

I love that name. Not because of Teen Mom, but because it is a cute name for a boy.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the name. Not because of Maci/Bentley or because it's a "teen mom" name. It's because I don't find it suitable for a child, I only can think of the car. Also it has become very trendy, which I'm not really a fan of. I think the nickname Ben is nice for it, if someone does use it but I also like Bennett "Ben" and Benjamin "Ben".

Bentley James is nice and it has good flow, but James is very run of the mill and over used as a middle name. I have met three Bentley's before and all of their middle names were James. Though James gives the name a nice balance so it isn't overly trendy I think there are other classic/traditional names that could work better. Such as Bentley Theodore, Bentley Charles, Bentley William, and Bentley Samuel!

I think that the only people that name their kid Bentley are people that will never be able to afford one.

Sorry, it does sound trashy, in my opinion.

I think Bentley is a cute, modern alternative to the name Benjamen, I like it.

thats my nephews name! except its bentley alexander. my sister never had any issue with "name stealing" or whatever. the only thing she would get would be .oh did you get that from teen mom?" it has never been mean or a problem. so if you like the name go for it! since thats all that matters. because in four years noone will even remember what teen mom is.

Sorry...you're right about the teen mom connection and that's really bcs, for some reason, it's a name that appeals to extremely young people.

Personally, I think naming children for high-end merchandise is tacky, juvenile, and not at all creative.
It just screams that you know you'll never be able to afford such pricey luxuries so you'll be a wannabee and live thru the child's name.

Also, in many parts of the US, the nn "bent" is a synonym for sodomy.
I think any parent can do better for the child than giving him a name that means anal intercourse.

If you truly love the name, give the child a break and use James Bentley.
The flow is much better and you're not saddling your child with an embarrassing first name.
