#1 isn't real art. it's one of those formless blobs that taxpayers get shafted to pay for, to put in front of government buildings.
#2 is. it actually looks like something, and conveys a message. (cars racing on a highway.)
real people who work for a living do not purchase "art" like #1. (usually)
in a free market, that type of sculpture would never be marketable. that is why "artists" who create such atrocities must rely on government grants. the lack of demand speaks volumes about its quality.
the only message that #1 conveys is "HA! HA! I found somebody gullible enough to pay me for this piece of garbage!"
