I have a 1997 Cadillac STS with 152,000 miles. I the mornings it starts immediately upon turning the key. Once you turn the care off and let it set more than 10-15 minutes it will turn over for 20-30 seconds before starting. If you turn it off and right back on it will start immediately. I have replaced the battery, fuel filter and fuel pump and nothing improved its ability to start after the first initial start of the day. Once started the car runs great. It doesn’t miss; the RPM gage stays steady when idling. I have tried different additives, nothing works. Any thoughts?

I had this problem on my 97 Deville, but the fuel pump and filter and new intake gaskets fixed mine.

Sounds like Bad Plug Wires (Heat Sensitive) and/or Distributor Block, Also check for "Heat Sensitive" Coil Pack.

We had a very similar problem with an old capri. We ended up fitting a non-return valve in the fuel line, don't know if this will cure your problem but for the cost, about $3, it is worth a try. My only other thought is the fuel vaporising in the pipe, but can't think how this could happen in a high pressure, sealed fuel injection system like yours. Good luck.

I had a similar problem with my Prelude years ago. After taking short trip, turning it on and off, it would not restart. Simply put in a new starter relay and I was good to go.
