Hyundai maintenance from dealership: $1600 for 60,000 mile maintenance(?)?

My mom's getting her car maintained at the dealership. They're pushing for new timing belts, replacing the brake pads and 2 rotors. Seems pretty hefty. Anyone have experience on if this ballpark?

Try to haggle another 100-200$ off the price. Always make sure to get everything properly repaired and dont be cheap when it comes to cars. (You will regret it because you saved on the wrong end)
Dont even get me started about expensive maintenances :-( .....I drive a Porsche

Not specific to Hyundai (never owned one), but brake pads are usually replaced around 50k miles. You may be able to get more out of the rotors, but it's actually cheaper to replace them together, and the usually wear out at the same rate.

Like I said, I know nothing about Hyundai's, but it definitely seems like overkill on the price. New brakes and rotors (which I would recommend replacing at 60k) should be anywhere between $300 - $375. I've seen timing belt costs anywhere between $250 - $750 depending on the car.

I would NEVER use the dealer as the mechanic of choice. They are most likely to have the parts, but are also consistently higher in labor costs. Dealers also have a habit of jacking up the prices of replacement parts, or making you by the parts through them instead of just having them install what you bring in, which often costs more money.

Take the car of a local mechanic and have them quote you a brake replacement and belt replacement. They may even tell you that you don't need one or the other.

Not a bad price with the brakes... for that money they will replace the timing belt, replace all belts, flush the radiator and repace the antifreeze, change oil in the transmission, tune up the car (new plugs, wires) etc. For that money they do a lot of things. I paid $1300 for mine and did not include any brakes so sounds like you are getting a good deal.

Sounds about right but last year I had new tires, all new belts including the timing belt and a tune up done for $455. Now with that in mind I didnt have the breaks done. But yea it sounds about right.

That's on the high side, but they must be replacing the water pump too. Pumps last a pretty long time nowadays so, if you can, hold off until the next time you replace the belt.
Keep in mind that you don't have to go to the dealer. Going to a local shop will not void the warranty and you don't have to get everything done at once.
To get the price down a little hold off on the water pump, do the brakes a little later if you aren't having any problems with them now. The timing belt should be the main item to replace.

I would have everything but the brakes done at the dealer. Get a quote from at least 2 independent brake shops first and if the dealer can match their price have that done too.
