how many miles before you change transmission fluid?

Not very often, 60,000mi is ok. Check your manual.

about 40,000 to 50,000

varies per manufacturer. some are 100,000. some are 60,000. read up in the owners manual. some gm's are never, unless you have current transmission slipping problems.

I don't go by any books or instruction. I change both the fluid and filter every 50,000 miles. I have 163,000 and i am still on the original transmission and it drives just like it should !
