how can i find out what fault codes my chevy truck needs to be worked on, without using a scanner?

you pretty much need the scanner to do this. the only other way is test everything the old fashioned way

Depends on what year Chevy Silverado you have, that determines how you retrieve the codes!

depends on the year. the older years you can use a code key or a piece of wire to check the codes. if you have 1 of the older years you can check the codes with a piece of wire by putting it in A and B in the connector under the dash.
